How to install apps blocked by Google Play Protect

⚠️ Why is Play Protect Blocking the App?

Google Play Protect is a security feature that scans apps for potential threats. It automatically blocks apps that are not published on the Google Play Store, even if they're completely safe.

Our parental control app is safe and secure. It's digitally signed with our production certificate and contains no malware or viruses. The warning appears simply because we're not yet published on the Play Store (we're working on it!).

📱 Method 1: Install Anyway (Recommended)

This is the easiest method and doesn't require disabling Play Protect.

  1. Download the APK Tap the download button on the downloads page. The APK file will be saved to your Downloads folder.
  2. Open the Downloaded File Tap the notification that appears, or open your Downloads folder and tap the APK file.
  3. Play Protect Warning Appears You'll see a message saying "App blocked by Play Protect" with details about why it's blocked.
  4. Tap "More Details" At the bottom of the warning screen, tap the "More details" button.
  5. Tap "Install Anyway" You'll see an "Install anyway" button at the bottom. Tap it to proceed with installation.
  6. Grant Permissions The app will request various permissions. Tap "Allow" for each permission to enable full monitoring functionality.
  7. Complete Setup Follow the in-app setup wizard to complete the installation and configuration.

💡 Tip

If you don't see "More details" or "Install anyway" buttons, try Method 2 below.

🔧 Method 2: Temporarily Disable Play Protect

If Method 1 doesn't work, you can temporarily disable Play Protect to install the app.

  1. Open Google Play Store Launch the Play Store app on your device.
  2. Access Your Profile Tap your profile icon in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Go to Play Protect From the menu, select "Play Protect".
  4. Open Settings Tap the settings gear icon in the top right corner.
  5. Disable Scanning Turn OFF the toggle for "Scan apps with Play Protect".
  6. Install the App Now go back and install the APK file. It should install without warnings.
  7. Re-enable Play Protect (Recommended) After installation, go back to Play Protect settings and turn scanning back ON for security.

⚠️ Important

Remember to re-enable Play Protect after installation to keep your device protected from potentially harmful apps from other sources.

🔐 Method 3: Allow Unknown Sources

On some devices, you may need to enable installation from unknown sources.

  1. Open Settings Go to your device's Settings app.
  2. Navigate to Security Find and tap "Security" or "Security & Privacy" (location varies by device).
  3. Find Install Unknown Apps Look for "Install unknown apps" or "Unknown sources".
  4. Select Your Browser Choose the browser or file manager you used to download the APK.
  5. Enable Installation Turn ON the toggle to "Allow from this source".
  6. Install the App Go back and install the APK file.

Q: Is this app really safe?

Yes, absolutely. Our app is digitally signed with a production certificate, regularly scanned for security issues, and contains no malware. The Play Protect warning appears only because we're not on the Play Store yet.

Q: Why isn't this app on the Play Store?

We're currently in the process of submitting our app to the Play Store. The review process typically takes 1-2 weeks. Once approved, you'll be able to download directly from the Play Store without any warnings.

Q: Will my device be at risk?

No. Installing our app does not put your device at risk. However, we recommend only downloading APK files from trusted sources (like our official website) and keeping Play Protect enabled for other apps.

Q: Can I update the app later?

Yes. When we release updates, you can download and install them the same way. Once we're on the Play Store, updates will be automatic.
